Is it me or is my hair crunchy?

Ahhh the joys of parenthood.  Bear with me this is going to be long.  Monday was quite a day.  The girls were out of school so we went shopping for new shoes- gotta teach them early the importance of cute shoes.  Then we headed downtown and took Daddy to lunch, lots of fun getting to see him during the workday for all of us.  He took to us to a greasy little hamburger joint that we all enjoyed.  We were going to head on over to the zoo afterwards but the rain caught up with us so we went to The Dessert Gallery instead.  Hmmm....rainy zoo or dessert?  Easy choice!  As we pulled into the parking lot I asked the girls what kind of cupcake they were going to want and Blayne says, "You mean we get to eat it?!"  "Of course!" I replied, why wouldn't we eat I thought?  Oh, she thought we could only look at the desserts because afterall it is a "gallery" she explains.  I love that she was still excited to go before she knew she got to eat something.

Blayne got a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing, Bree got a pink one, and momma got carrot cake- DEVINE!  After our sweets we headed out.  Now here is where our fabulous day gets interesting.  The girls wanted to go by Hobby Lobby on the way home (another BAD habit from Mommy) and I needed coffee. So instead of getting on the freeway and heading to Katy, we head back towards town for a Starbucks.  Then I saw the Stonemill Bakery...oh such memories from pre-kiddie years of shopping with my mom on a Saturday.  We would stop here always for lunch and an oatmeal raisin cookie to go.  So I decide we MUST pop in for some cookies to take home, as if we haven't had our fill of sweets already.  As we are standing in line, Bree, who is in my arms, suddenly realizes that greasy hamburger and pink icing don't mix so well.  She lifts her sweet little head up from my shoulder looks into my eyes and...blahhhh- throws up ALL over me.  A-W-E-S-O-M-E!  The 20 something yuppie in front of us had the most horrified look on his face.  Hello? haven't you ever seen vomit before?  And besides there is just a tiny bit on the floor, the rest is on my chest that she is now laying on, so you really can't see too much.  "Blayne get me some napkins please!  No, I'm going to need more than one...more than two, LOTS!"  Yuck, pink vomit, I can feel it on my back, I think it's it's in my bra.  We must make a haste exit...or should we?  Those cookies are right there, I can see them calling my name.  I really did think twice before leaving without those cookies, they are soooo good.  After stripping Bree down at the car and wiping myself down I lock her in and close the door only to see myself in the reflection on the window...nice...
pink-vomit-in-my-hair....oh well, at least it's only a 30 minute drive home.

Yummy, Yummy in my tummy...not for long Mom!

A New Day

So I've had this inspiration to blog for a bit...just never actually got it started. When I started following blogs last spring I had a whim of an idea to start my own- like very other mom at home!-, it never really came to fruition except for the name. But a friend recently sent me her blog...so cute Jaime...and it really kicked my butt into gear. Guess it's time to start "doing" instead of dreaming. If it's anything, it's my own personal diary that the girls can one day look at.

Now, to explain the name...this is our song, Shawn and me that is. Yes, we are huge John Denver fans...kidding- but we do love lots of old music, we're just old souls at heart. It just happens to also have my name in it, I guess a coincidence. We danced to it at our wedding as did his parents at their wedding, so it's sentimental and everytime I hear it I think about the life we have created for ourselves and how much has changed since that first date at Pappadeaux's 12 years ago. At this point you may be thinking "She listens to John Denver?" Well not really, but Shawn has put it on all of our mixed cd's, he is so cute!

Now to the nitty gritty of the day- Today I've actually tried to make a difference here at home. For one thing I finally moved the rest of Bree's things to her new room. After 3 months in the new house she has decided she wants the room next to Blayne. Who can blame a girl for wanting to be closer to her big sis. So with my new found muscles I moved the rest of the furniture myself. Now I have to make good on my promise to her and paint it pink- SOON! I'll be sure to fit that in while I'm redecorating Blayne's room in pink and black, black is her new favorite color.
and now I hear my little one awake before I got my shower...well, at least I got something done today!
